The Matty’s- 2015: “Best Actor”

golden noseAlright now, we’re getting down to the nitty-gritty. Three MATTY’S down, two to go.

I’m your host, Matty W. Kelley, and we are here to give out the MATTY for “Best Actor.”

But before we do I want to tell you that I saw “50 shades of Grey” this weekend, and boy was I surprised. It was better than what I expected and WAY BETTER than the book (because books suck). I went in thinking I would see some soft-core porno but there was actually a half decent story to it, and some pretty good acting too. I can guarantee you it won’t win a MATTY next year, but what the hey, I was entertained. (I gave it 2.5 out of 5 Giant Noses.)

Back to the awards show!

Tonight I am giving out my “Best Actor” award to whom I think performed above and beyond their expectations. Now there were a lot of great performances this past year, but only one man can walk away with his “nose” held high.

Who will it be?

Back from commercial in 3…2…1… (Cue Matty!)

…And we’re back at the MATTY AWARDS, the awards show that all of the Hollywood elite are talking about. As a matter of fact, I just overheard tonight’s Best Supporting Actowinner, J.K. Simmons say to Jessica Chastain that the only award he’s ever wished to win has been “Matty’s Golden Nostrils.”
Well, J.K., I’m happy that you finally received your “Golden Snout.” Congrats.

Ok, back to it, I’m your host Matty W. Kelley and it’s high time we move on to our next category, Best Actress.

Personally, I find this category the sexiest of all the categories. You gotta love the ladies.

The Matty’s- 2015: “Best Supporting Actor”

golden nose The Matty’s 2015: Best Supporting Actor

Welcome back to The Matty Awards. I’m your host, Matty W. Kelley and I’m the second best movie reviewer in the world.
Our previous category, Best Supporting Actress was a tough one. I’d like to say congratulations to Maggie Gyllenhall on her surprise win over Patricia Arquette in the closest voting margin in the history of “The Matty’s.” Cherish your Golden Nostrils, Ms. Gyllenhall.
Let’s get right into the next category, Best Supporting Actor.

The Matty’s 2015: Best Supporting Actress

golden noseTHE MATTY’S (Best Supporting Actress)

And we’re back at The Matty Awards, celebrating the best of the best in film, according to “yours truly.”

I’m your host, Matty W. Kelley.

Let’s get started on what I think may be the most difficult category for me in this whole entire awards show. Reason being: Where are all the great supporting roles for women? Come on Hollywood, let’s write some juicy supporting roles for the ladies. They are the fairer sex, and much easier on the eyes too.

So, who will receive the “Golden Nose” statuette for Best Supporting Actress?

Big Eyes

Big Eyes“Big Eyes” is a film that just as easily could’ve been called “Big Lies,” because that’s what this film is. It’s just one big fat lie.

Didn’t Mother always tell you not to be a liar? Didn’t Mother also tell you that if you did your pants would catch on fire?

Well, the two main characters in this film should have listened to their mothers. Continue reading Big Eyes

Star Wars trailer/Horrible Bosses 2

star warsJust another day. Just another movie review.

This morning I woke up bright and early to catch the first showing of “Horrible Bosses 2.” As I stood in line, waiting to purchase my ticket, I couldn’t help but think to myself, why were there so many people lined up to see “Horrible Bosses 2”?

Did I forget how unbelievably awesome “Horrible Bosses 1” was? Was it THAT good that everybody needed to see the first showing of this sequel?

So I went to my trusty “Matty’s Movies” movie reviewing journal and looked up my rating for “HB1”, (That’s short for “Horrible Bosses 1”). To my surprise, on July 9th 2011, I gave “HB1” a pretty darn good score of 3.75 out of 5 Giant Noses. Not too bad for a film that I really don’t remember much about. Foxcatcher

FoxcatcherThere’s a new film hitting theatres that’s getting some serious Oscar buzz. The movie is called “Foxcatcher.”

Does it deserve the buzz that it is receiving?

Well, that’s what I’m here to tell you.

“Foxcatcher” tells the true story of millionaire John du Pont and his affection towards patriotism, power, and Olympic wrestlers Mark and David Schultz.

John du Pont (Steve Carell) is in love with the sport of wrestling and is determined to build a team that will take the gold at the 1988 Olympics. He puts together a team anchored by Mark Schultz (Channing Tatum) and calls it ‘Team Foxcatcher’. Continue reading Foxcatcher
